What is the award?

The Virginia J. Watt and Dorothy Stillwell award encourages Inuit to pursue studies in Inuit art and culture.
Who is eligible to receive the award?

It is awarded to a Canadian Inuk currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, or equivalent, and who demonstrates an interest in Inuit art and cultural studies.
When is it awarded?

The funds are to be awarded biennially.

A notice of the award is sent out to Canadian universities that offer programs in Inuit art and cultural studies as well as Inuit cultural organizations in November.
Who is the current recipient?

Beth Kotierk, second-year sculpture/instalation design student at the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2010.
Kotierk was born in Iqaluit, but she spent most of her childhood moving between Ottawa and Igloolik. She attended York University, but transferred to OCAD. In 2009, she received the inaugural Norval Morrisseau bursary, awarded by the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation.

Canadian Inuit who are currently enrolled in post-secondary studies at a recognized institution, or equivalent, and who demonstrate an interest in Inuit art and culture studies.
